Our tensioned shade sails enhanced the ambiance and comfort of the Houlihan’s Restaurant patio in the Holiday Inn at San Francisco International Airport.

We constructed (2) 14′ tall columns outside the patio.  Three fabrics stretch between them and connect directly into the building.  The stucco finish wasn’t strong enough to support the load, so we installed eye bolts directly into the steel beams inside the walls.

This canvas shade structure cools the patio courtyard at Hotel Zephyr near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.   Five cable-tensioned triangles are tensioned between (8) posts.  Four of the posts lean outwards from the building by 10-degrees.

We were part of a $multi-million construction project to renovate the entire hotel, which previously operated as Radisson Hotel Fisherman’s Wharf.

We designed and constructed this basketball court shade structure at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa in Kelseyville, CA. Among other uses, this Lake County resort also serves as a youth summer camp.

It has a single HDPE shade fabric measuring 66’x43’ that is cable-tensioned between (6) structural steel posts. The posts are 20’ tall and anchored with underground footings that are 36” diameter. Center footings are 7’ deep; outside footings are 5’6” deep. The peak ridge beam is 26’ high to enable last-minute “Hail Mary” shots.

It gets very windy in this location, which is in the mountains only a few hundred feet above Clear Lake. Just imagine the tons of uplift during high wind! So, we engineered the shade structure to withstand 110 MPH wind with fabrics attached.

These super span hip roof shade canopy structures cool large, outdoor play areas.  The foreground structure covers a volleyball court.  The background structure cools a basketball court.

Both structures have a single HDPE shade fabric atop (6) 20’ posts.  The footings measure 36” diameter x 7’ deep.  The volleyball canopy measures 50’x80’ and the basketball canopy measures 43’x66’.  Adjacent to windy Clear Lake, the structures withstand 110 mph wind with the fabrics attached.

Shade Comforts assumed contractual responsibility for structure designs, engineering, fabrication, and construction at Camp Konocti in the Lake County, CA community of Kelseyville.

These parking lot shade canopy structures cool cars at Augustine Casino in Coachella, CA.  Summer air temperature can exceed 115 degrees F.  It gets hot in Riverside County’s Inland Empire on asphalt pavement!

Totaling 10,170 square feet, arched beams of tensioned fabric cantilever 18’ out from the columns.  Four structures shade 67 parking spaces in the valet parking lot.

We provided single-source contractual responsibility for the design, engineering, manufacturing, and construction of these parking shade canopy structures.
